Carlisle Transfer Station Guidelines
Hours of operation: Tuesdays and Thursday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
The Carlisle Transfer Station represents the “Gold Standard” of municipal recycling programs — source separation of recyclables. Sorting recyclables by item category reduces contamination with incompatible materials, and results in “clean” stock that can be diverted to ‘highest use’ by businesses that use the material to create new products.
All residents using the Transfer Station, either directly or through private trash collectors, are subject to Transfer Station guidelines and required to sort trash for recyclables as per MassDEP waste bans guidelines.
Transfer Station Stickers
Residents must purchase a Transfer Station sticker annually in order to use the Transfer Station. Stickers may be purchased by residents at the Carlisle Police Station on Lowell Street (Dispatcher’s window) by presenting proof of residence and vehicle identification. Stickers are available for purchase by January 1 of each year and must be displayed on vehicles no later than April 1. Stickers should be visible when entering the Transfer Station. They should be displayed on the left side of vehicle bumpers or on the left-hand side of a vehicle’s front window.
Residences whose household disposables are picked up by local collectors who use the Transfer Station must also purchase residential stickers. Local collectors are required to purchase stickers for collection vehicles used and to maintain, and be prepared to display, a list of residential addresses they serve.
Sticker Fees for Households
Stickers are $25 for the first vehicle at one residence and $10 for additional stickers for other vehicles. Please be sure to have your vehicle registration with you when you purchase your sticker(s). Payment is by check only made payable to the Town of Carlisle; cash is not accepted.
The Carlisle Transfer Station accepts construction and demolition debris from household renovation/remodeling projects with the purchase of special permits. See below for details.
Construction and Demolition Debris Permits
Permists for disposing of demolition materials can be purchased at the Police Station by filling out an application and showing proof of residence, previous purchase of a residential Transfer Station sticker, and payment of the appropriate fee. Residents (or their agents) may purchase up to 3 permits at one time to minimize delays. There is a permit fee of $50.00 for each pickup truck-sized load and $150.00 for each larger truck-sized load.
